\nA Construction Laborer is responsible for general laborer duties on construction sites. They may prepare sites by cleaning them, loading, or unloading materials, digging trenches, compacting earth, and removing hazards. \nResponsibilities
\nRoles and Responsibilities:
\nIncluding but not limited to the list below.
\n\u2022\tPrepare construction sites by clearing obstacles and hazards.
\n\u2022\tUse various equipment, hand, and power tools.
\n\u2022\tProficient in the safe and efficient use of layout tools, and measurement tools.
\n\u2022\tMeasure and mark pipes for cutting.
\n\u2022\tAbility to load or unload construction materials, pipe, and equipment.
\n\u2022\tDig, spread, and level dirt and gravel, using pick, rake, shovel, etc.
\n\u2022\tDig up existing pipes and lines.
\n\u2022\tPrepare ground trenches for pipes and utility lines.
\n\u2022\tUse chains, slings, or guide wires to rig pipes, trench boxes, and slide rail shoring systems.
\n\u2022\tGuide pipes and shoring devices into place, assisting the equipment operator.
\n\u2022\tJoin, wrap, seal, and bed sections of underground pipe.
\n\u2022\tRemove, fill, or compact earth.
\n\u2022\tAssist with establishing alignment and grade with the use of grade stakes and lasers.
\n\u2022\tCoordinate all other activities in the excavation as directed.
\n\u2022\tSignal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications.
\n\u2022\tWork safely around heavy equipment, and people at all times.
\n\u2022\tProduce high quality work, safely and productively at all times.
\n\u2022\tAssist all craft workers.
\n\u2022\tPerform clean-up in connection with the work.
\n\u2022\tComply with all safety policies, procedures, and standards of safety.
\n\u2022\tMove from job to job as projects progress
\n\u2022\tOther light duties and responsibilities may be assigned by supervisors.
\nQualifications
\nSkills and Qualifications:
\n\u2022\tHigh School Diploma or GED preferred. Any vocational training is strongly desired.
\n\u2022\tThose with an education and\/or work-related credential from a secondary or post-secondary educational system will be given preferred interview status (Precision Exams, NOCTE, etc.).
\n\u2022\tMust be at least 18 years of age.
\n\u2022\tDisplay a willing attitude to learn from others.
\n\u2022\tPossess a strong sense of personal responsibility.
\n\u2022\tFocus to work safely in close proximity to heavy equipment and underground utilities.
\n\u2022\tExcellent written and verbal communication skills.
\n\u2022\tAbility to work effectively in a team environment.
\n\u2022\tValid driver\u2019s license and reliable transportation to get to and from work.
\nPhysical Requirements:
\n\u2022\tAble and willing to work long hours including day, night, weekend shifts as needed, and work outside of normal hours.
\n\u2022\tAble to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
\n\u2022\tAble to work in outside environments being subjected to weather changes, noise, vibrations, and job hazards.
\n\u2022\tAbility to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks.
